Terms of Use
The rules for using Hourlo, in plain words.
1. Scope and provider
These terms apply to the use of the Hourlo app for iPhone and Apple Watch and of this website. The provider is Dennis Donner, Eduard-v-Winterstein-Straße 11, 14480 Potsdam, Germany, app-support@donner.io. You get the app from Apple’s App Store; Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA) also applies.
2. The app
Hourlo is a tool to record working and personal time: a timer, a timeline, Fix My Day suggestions, insights, reports, exports, invoices, place automations, widgets, a Live Activity, Siri and Shortcuts actions and an Apple Watch app. The features available depend on your device, your iOS version and the permissions you grant.
3. Your records and your responsibility
You decide what you record. Time entries, totals, rates, currencies, reports, invoices and other exports are calculated from the data you enter and the settings you choose. You are responsible for checking them before you use them, especially before you bill a client or hand them to an employer or authority.
Hourlo does not give tax, legal, accounting or payroll advice. Invoices created with Hourlo are a template; whether they meet the legal requirements for your business (for example tax numbers, VAT details or invoice numbering) is your responsibility.
4. Automations and suggestions are best-effort
Place automations depend on iOS location services and region monitoring. iOS decides when it reports that you arrived or left, so a timer may start or stop late or not at all, for example with low battery, poor reception or when permissions change. Fix My Day only suggests entries; you decide what to apply. I do not guarantee that recorded times are complete or exact.
5. Your data and backups
Your records are stored on your device only. I cannot restore them for you. Use the JSON backup in the app or your device backups regularly; losing or resetting your device without a backup can mean losing your records.
6. Purchases through Apple
Some features may be available as in-app purchases. They are sold and billed by Apple through your Apple Account under Apple’s terms. Purchases that renew automatically can be managed or cancelled in your Apple Account settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions); deleting the app does not cancel them. Refund requests are handled by Apple. Your statutory rights as a consumer remain unaffected.
7. Availability and changes
I keep improving Hourlo and may change, add or remove features with updates, as long as this is reasonable for you and the main purpose of features you have paid for is preserved. I cannot guarantee that the app is always available and without errors, or that it works on older devices and iOS versions.
8. Rights to the app
The app, its design, texts and graphics are protected by copyright. You receive the right to use the app for your own purposes according to Apple’s standard EULA. You may not decompile, resell or redistribute the app except where the law allows it.
9. Liability
I am liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act and where I have given a guarantee. For slight negligence, I am only liable for breaches of essential obligations (obligations whose fulfilment makes proper use of the app possible and on which you may rely), limited to the damage that was typical and foreseeable when the contract was concluded. Otherwise, liability for slight negligence is excluded. This also applies to my representatives and agents.
10. Apple
Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of Apple’s EULA and may enforce it against you.
11. Applicable law
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not take away the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live.
12. Changes to these terms
I may update these terms, for example when the app changes. The version shown here applies; important changes are announced with the app update.
